Wow, mainstream country was actually a bit more tolerable back in '06. (I wasn't paying a lick of attention to the the mainstream at the time.) George Strait had two number one hits! A duet with Dolly Parton was on the charts. And apparently Dierks Bentley was the biggest "bro" anyone had to worry about.
Seems like there was still plenty of crap, but it's amazing how much country music has taken a turn for the completely non-traditional even in the last eight years.
