Honest CD sticker

Chinese Democracy
I guess after all the mentions of Guns n' Roses' long awaited new album, I should at least acknowledge that I went down to Best Buy and purchased the CD today. I'm no album reviewer so disregard my opinion if you're on the fence about buying it. I'll just say that if you really liked the slower, more melodic moments of the Use Your Illusion albums, you should enjoy Chinese Democracy (though there are a few pretty heavy rockers). It's not an immediate album, but I'm finding that with each listen, something new grabs me. Axl sounds great throughout and the band(s?) is/are tight. The sound is huge huge huge, and there are moments of greatness but overall, it's a mixed bag. My star rating after 3 listens? 3 stars.

Hair Metal/Hard Rock Week
In honor of the long awaited release of Guns n' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" this Sunday (you read that right, Sunday), the rest of this week will have a hair metal and hard rock theme. 2 or 3 new covers a day, then a big load of covers on Friday. I know most of my viewers/readers are country fans, but I bet there are a lot of you that had a mullet, or wore a jean jacket with your favorite bands' patches on it, or had a tape case full of Britny Fox, Kix, Great White and Motley Crue. If so, enjoy this trip through day-glo memories. If not, just sit back and laugh at my self indulgence.
