Christmas Gift Card Haul

I always get a lot of gift cards for Christmas because... well, the music I ask for isn't on the shelf at Walmart 90% of the time and Mamaw Peg and Auntie Suejane never heard of Drive-by Truckers or Hayes Carll. So this year, I got ZERO CDs for Christmas for the first time ever; well, in the CD era anyway... but I got a &*$%load of gift cards, most of them easy to spend on music music music! So anyway, here are my early grabs. What tunes did you snag for Christmas or with the aid of Christmas/holiday gift cards?

The Gourds - Haymaker
Cajun flavored roots rockin', toe tappin' fun.

Brandon Kinney - Smells Like Texas
What a kidder this guy. Funny stuff that I thought would get old after a few listens, but it's actually grown on me... like a mold.

Centro-matic/South San Gabriel - Dual Hawks
Two bands fronted by the same guy (Will Johnson) - one band guitar crunching alt-countryish indie rock, the other more atmospheric alt-countryish indie rock.

Sammy Kershaw - I Can't Reach Her Anymore (single song)
Love this song! Just a good ol' country weeper with a killer hook.

  1. Nobody ever gets me CDs because they assume I already have everything. I did get an iTunes gift card, though. I grabbed a Tennessee Ernie Ford greatest hits collection yesterday, but that's it so far. $19 left. What to do?

I like that Sammy Kershaw song too.

  2. Sweet choice on the Centro-Matic pick. Do you have Fort Recovery? dont let that itunes card dwindle down without picking that one up!

  3. $19 hmm? I dunno, but I could spend it in seconds flat. Got the new Jason Boland and the Stragglers? That's a good one.

Kelly, I've been meaning to pick that up. I love "Calling Thermatico."

  4. She don't have much to talk about
Since my feet did the walkin' out
If only she could see them walk the floor...

Love Sammy, talk about a guy who should have been a whole lot bigger for a whole lot longer...

    Thanks
