YouTube Gems: Butch Walker covers Taylor Swift

Wow. I'm not familiar with Butch Walker, but I'll be familiarizing myself after hearing this cover of Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me." The music begins (and the video ends) at 2:47 and I dug it and you'll probably dig it. I have to say I enjoyed this cover more than the original. And it's surely just as country.

  1. Wow. I think I actually like this better than the original, too, and the original is one of a few Taylor songs I really like. I think this version exposes what a well-written song it really is.

  4. I've got a couple much more country sounding Taylor songs with country production from her debut era that were not included or released. They sound more country than anything else she's done on her albums, I don't know why they were left off. It's too bad she and her label decided to chase pop superstardom, I think she really could have been one of the biggest country stars ever if she had stayed with it. As for this cover, it really does sound good, as you said on par or better production than the original, and I'm usually not one for covers.

  5. I approve. I decree that Butch Walker should produce Miss Swift's next long playing record.
