Monday Morning Memes: George Jones, Aaron Tippin, Spotify

  1. Yes, there is definitely something wrong with country radio, as traditional country sounds have been replaced by non-country influences and sounds like hip-hop, hair metal, EDM, and Drake style R&B, while notable pop stars such as Bebe Rexha and Justin Bieber are gaining prominence within the genre. Whereas Aaron Tippin, along with many of his contemporaries such as George Strait, Clint Black, Travis Tritt, Randy Travis, Clay Walker, and Dwight Yoakam, are no doubt talented traditional country artists, another one of Tippin's contemporaries is the main culprit responsible for the mess of a genre that country music has become. Namely, the Nickelback of country music himself - Alan Jackson. While Jackson may be venerated by his fans as some sort of "traditional country" artist like those actual traditional country music artists previously mentioned, any person with functioning ears can tell you otherwise, as it was largely Jackson who was responsible for those aforementioned non-country influences taking over country music today (although there are artists still making great country music such as Luke Combs, Jon Pardi, Eric Church, and Chris Stapleton). In addition, it was also Jackson who lived up to country stereotypes and therefore cemented the stereotype that country music is made for ignorant, racist, trailer trash (see "It's Alright to Be a Redneck", "I Still Like Bologna", "Jim and Jack and Hank", and especially that stupid 9/11-exploiting song where he couldn't tell the difference between Iraq and Iran). And if that still wasn't enough for Jackson to be disqualified as a "traditional country artist" of any sort, then I'll have you know that it was Jackson who covered multiple hip-hop and R&B songs (alongside an ABBA song for some obviously non-country reason) in concert, specifically:
    * Akon - Don't Matter
    * Wiz Khalifa - We Dem Boyz ( video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFOtWpul3ZY )
    * Soulja Boy - Turn My Swag On
    * Future - Mask Off
    * Flo Rida - Whistle
    * T.I. - Whatever You Like
    * Big Sean ft. Nicki Minaj - Dance (A$$)
    * Lil Wayne - Love Me
    * Drake - Make Me Proud
    * Waka Flocka Flame - Hard in da Paint
    * Shaquille O'Neal - (I Know I Got) Skillz
    * ABBA - Super Trouper
    * Fetty Wap - Jugg
    You'd have to be an awfully ignorant bro-country fan (in other words, at least 90% of Alan Jackson fans) to think that there is nothing wrong with mainstream country today. From bro-country and metro-bro acts like Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Kane Brown, Sam Hunt and Dan + Shay continuing to dominate the genre, to pop singer Justin Bieber having the current number one country song, to fellow pop artist Bebe Rexha's collaboration with bro-country act Florida Georgia Line holding the record for the longest running number one song at 50 weeks, Jackson has done irreversible damage to mainstream country as a whole. Thanks to Alan Jackson (the Nickelback of country music) there sure is hell something wrong with country music. Johnny Cash would slap Alan Jackson like how Moe slapped Larry, Curly, Shemp, and Curly Joe in the Three Stooges.

  2. When yo added Chris Stapleton , your theory went out the window . Stapleton is a blues“singer” . Although I’d say he’s more of a screamer ..
