There's Been an Awful Murder

  1. Oh yes, something certainly did happen to country music, thanks to that soy boy standing next to George Strait in the bottom panel - the Nickelback of country music himself, Alan Jackson. The "something" that happened was that Alan Jackson destroyed country music, and that "song" ("Murder on Music Row") was, like Gun Rack's "I Killed Darnell Simmons" from Key and Peele's video "Rap Album Confessions", Alan Jackson singing about his own crime. That was indeed an "awful murder", as Alan Jackson has not only solidified the stereotype that country music is made for ignorant, racist, Libertarian white trash rednecks (see "I Still Like Bologna", "It's Alright to be a Redneck", "Jim and Jack and Hank" aka Achy Breaky 3, and that stupid 9/11-exploiting song where he couldn't tell the difference between Iraq and Iran), but it is also Jackson who can and should best be credited with the invention of bro-country and metro-bro (see "Chattahoochee", "Country Boy", and "Where I Come From"). Simply put, given that Alan Jackson destroyed real country music, he is the father of the non-country influences like snap beats and Drake style R&B influences that are poisoning country radio today. Dustin Lynch, just like Luke Bryan, FGL, Sam Hunt, Kane Brown, Hunter Hayes, Cole Swindell, Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road", and the fact that pop star Bebe Rexha holds the record for the longest running number one country song (at 50 weeks) with "Meant to Be", is simply the apocalyptic aftermath of what this soy boy did to country music. And of course, Jackson has also covered multiple rap songs in concert, specifically
    Akon - Don't Matter
    * Wiz Khalifa - We Dem Boyz ( video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFOtWpul3ZY )
    * Tyga - Hookah
    * Soulja Boy - Turn My Swag On
    * Soulja Boy - I Got that Sauce
    * Future - Mask Off
    * Flo Rida - Whistle
    * T.I. - Whatever You Like
    * Big Sean ft. Nicki Minaj - Dance (A$$)
    * Lil Wayne - Love Me
    * Drake - Passionfruit
    * Offset - Ric Flair Drip
    * Waka Flocka Flame - Hard in da Paint
    * Shaquille O'Neal - (I Know I Got) Skillz
    * Fetty Wap - Jugg
    Sure, as Dustin Lynch mentions, it is still possible to get a bit on country radio with a neotraditional country sound. Just ask Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, and Eric Church, to name a few. But these are still the outliers, not the norms, as foreign influences like rap, Drake style R&B, and 80's hair metal continue to dominate country radio alongside the same recycled bro-country clichés from the past 6 or 7 years. While there are still some great artists within mainstream country music like the artists previously mentioned, mainstream
    country music is still in a dire state, thanks to Alan Jackson (again, think about Bebe Rexha and "Meant to Be" reigning at number one for 50 weeks). Alan Jackson truly did to country music what Bush did to Iraq and Obama did to Libya.
