The "something" that happened was that Alan Jackson destroyed country music, and that "song" ("Murder on Music Row") was, like Gun Rack's "I Killed Darnell Simmons" from Key and Peele's video "Rap Album Confessions", Alan Jackson singing about his own crime. That was indeed an "awful murder", as Alan Jackson has not only solidified the stereotype that country music is made for ignorant, racist, Libertarian white trash rednecks (see "I Still Like Bologna", "It's Alright to be a Redneck", "Jim and Jack and Hank" aka Achy Breaky 3, and that stupid 9/11-exploiting song where he couldn't tell the difference between Iraq and Iran), but it is also Jackson who can and should best be credited with the invention of bro-country and metro-bro (see "Chattahoochee", "Country Boy", and "Where I Come From"). Simply put, given that Alan Jackson destroyed real country music, he is the father of the non-country influences like snap beats and Drake style R&B influences that are poisoning country radio today. Dustin Lynch, just like Luke Bryan, FGL, Sam Hunt, Kane Brown, Hunter Hayes, Cole Swindell, Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road", and the fact that pop star Bebe Rexha holds the record for the longest running number one country song (at 50 weeks) with "Meant to Be", is simply the apocalyptic aftermath of what this soy boy did to country music.
