If You Read It Online, It Must Be True

  1. Thanos is right, reality, just like country music, can be whatever he wants, as they can call anything country music these days. From the hip-hop, R&B, and hair metal inspired bro-country and metro-bro of Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, Sam Hunt, and Kane Brown, to pop star Bebe Rexha having the longest running number one country song ("Meant to Be") at 50 weeks, to rapper Lil Nas X going viral with his country rap hit "Old Town Road" (although it was removed from the Hot Country Songs, there is still a significant chance it could be reinstated), it seems as if the only way to save country music is for a Thanos snap that would turn all of these hacks to dust. But which of these hacks is responsible for this? Alan Jackson, better known as the Nickelback of country music. Not only was it Jackson who practically invented bro-country ("Chattahoochee", "Country Boy", and "Where I Come From") as well as cementing negative stereotypes about country music ("It's Alright to Be a Redneck", "Jim and Jack and Hank", and especially that stupid 9/11-exploiting song where he couldn't tell the difference between Iraq and Iran), but it was also Jackson who pioneered all of those aforementioned non-country influences taking over mainstream country. The most notable example of this is, of course, Alan Jackson's covers of multiple rap songs in concert, specifically:
    * Akon - Don't Matter
    * Wiz Khalifa - We Dem Boyz ( video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFOtWpul3ZY )
    * Tyga - Hookah
    * Soulja Boy - Turn My Swag On
    * Soulja Boy - I Got that Sauce
    * Future - Mask Off
    * Flo Rida - Whistle
    * T.I. - Whatever You Like
    * Big Sean ft. Nicki Minaj - Dance (A$$)
    * Lil Wayne - Love Me
    * Drake - Passionfruit
    * Offset - Ric Flair Drip
    * Waka Flocka Flame - Hard in da Paint
    * Shaquille O'Neal - (I Know I Got) Skillz
    * Fetty Wap - Jugg
    "Are the Good Times Really Over" for country music? From hip-hop, R&B, and hair metal songs about how many girls the artist can get into their truck, to pop and rap stars gaining significance within the genre, the good times are definitely over for country music, folks. And it's all thanks to so-called "traditional country" singer (my ass) Alan Jackson. Like I've said before, Alan Jackson did to country music what Bush did to Iraq and Obama did to Libya.
