Luke Combs Brings Despondent Cowboys Fan Onstage

In a heartwarming moment that showcased the power of music and empathy, country star Luke Combs brought a fan holding an “I’m a Cowboys fan, cheer me up” sign on stage during a recent sold-out concert. Combs spotted the desperate plea as he hit the final chorus of “Love You Anyway,” and got a distressed look on his face.

As the sign-holder, identified as Greg Harwell, stood in the audience with tears running down his face thinking about how the ‘Boys have allowed 44 points or more in two straight home games, Combs paused the performance. "I see you out there!" he exclaimed, acknowledging Harwell’s vulnerability with genuine compassion. The crowd burst into cheers as Combs waved Greg towards the stage, giving the thumbs up to security to let the poor soul through.

Once on stage, Greg was visibly emotional about the Cowboys overpaying for a quarterback yet not signing a capable running back, but he beamed with excitement as Combs handed him a microphone. “You look like you could use a pick me up,” said the deeply concerned singer. “You know the chorus of ‘When it Rains It Pours?” Greg wiped away his tears and shook his head yes.

The crowd erupted as Luke Combs autographed the sign for Harwell and started the song with a holler. Greg did a reasonably good job of holding his own on the chorus despite his overwhelming sorrow at the Cowboys’ recent blowout loss to the Saints.

After the performance, Combs put his hand on Greg’s shoulder and took a moment to speak to the crowd about a difficult issue. “It’s okay to not be okay,” he said. "We all go through tough times, and reaching out for help is a sign of strength. Look, I can’t tell you that things are ever going to get better with the Joneses in control, but we’re here for you.”

Giving the man a big hug and a knowing nod, Combs bid Harwell adieu before launching into the aptly named “This One’s For You.”

At press time, Jerry Jones was blackballing Combs from future shows at Jerryworld.
